University Multicultural Enhancement Committee

The University Multicultural Enhancement Committee (UMEC) advises the president on matters pertaining to institutional enhancement strategies and initiatives that promote diversity and cultural inclusion. Specifically, the committee is responsible for the oversight and review of diversity initiatives which foster the building of a more inclusive community, grounded in respect for the differences found among those within the Lamar University community and the community it serves.

Multicultural Student Advisory Council

The mission of the Multicultural Student Advisory Council, an advisory council to the Division of Student Engagement, is to cultivate and promote a culturally inclusive campus environment through collaborative partnerships with individual students and registered diversity related student organization representatives.

Multicultural Greek Council

The purpose of the Multicultural Greek Council is to represent fully the organizations that pride themselves as being multicultural and to be the voice of those organizations at Lamar University. This council is dedicated to promote multicultural awareness for the University as well as to the community through service and involvement with the student body.

International Student Council

The International Student Council, an advisory group to the Office of International Student Services, is composed of student representatives from different countries who join together not only to recognize and celebrate the diversity of the international student community, but to also serve as a forum to address issues and concerns of international students. The Council hosts a number of campus events to promote cross-cultural understanding and global perspective.
